THE CREATIVE ARTS CENTER PRESENTS IPAD
MULTIMEDIA ARTS CLASSES
Beginning September 2012
As The Storm King School begins its first year as an “iPad school,” the
Creative Arts Center (see story on the left) will offer an introductory
iPad Multimedia Arts class. Students will learn to use apps to
create music, video, and other multimedia projects; and they will
learn to use iPad tools to create songs quickly or compose music,
even if they do not play musical instruments. Additionally, class
members will learn how to make a quick music video or a simple
documentary. Best of all, the apps used are free or inexpensive.
With creative apps being released nearly every week, the class
expects to make some incredible creations. The iPad Multimedia
Arts class will prepare students who wish to journey into more
expansive pro multimedia arts programs at The Storm King School’s
recording studio using Avid Protools, Reason Rewire, Ableton, or
our Video Production Suite using Media Composer, Final Cut Pro
and Adobe CS video production — all state-of-the-art.

Art, Music, and Theater
THE CHAIR OF THE SKS art department, Amanda
Penecale, released a new album,
Time and Tide
,
on July 7, 2012.
The music was recorded in rural Maine at the Great North
Sound Society and produced by Erik Hischmann.
Time and Tide
focuses on the passage of time and the
allowance for change. The music grew from many places, but
the recording was the efforts of Amanda, Erik Hischamnn, and
Jordan Silber. They all played various instruments and added
their own personal vision to the project.
Amanda uses her interest in creating imagery to create not
only songs, but also paintings and photographs. Her students
were so kind to assist in the critique process for the album art.
High school art students as you may imagine, have critical
viewpoints, which greatly helped in the selection process.
