Thank you very much for the copies
of the “Quarry”from my senior year.
It was very pleasant to stir up old memo-
ries. The very first page had a picture of my
roommate,
Bob Loh
.
And then on the last
pages pictures and bios of my classmates. I’m
sorry that I had no one to share this with, as all
of the friends pictured have died. I did see
Jack Hemingway
at the 50th reunion, but
he has gone. too.
I met his wife at that reunion, but don’t
remember her name — I think she was his
second or third. You have heard of his
daughters, the movie stars. There was an
article in a paper this week about one of his
nephews. None of Jack’s brothers came to SKS.
He was very friendly with the
Sanchez boys
because of their Cuban connection. I believe
the Sanchez family sent many boys to SKS over
many years. Two of them are pictured in the
football squad of 1940 —
Bernabe
and
Fernando
,
the latter known as
Gordo
on
campus. Thanks again.
Kindest regards,

My years at Storm King were filled
with laughter, happiness and a sense of
security. Senior year left me feeling anxious yet
excited about going off to college. I was ready
to embark on a new journey outside of the
Mountain, but I was still nervous and
apprehensive of leaving SKS. I knew I was
prepared to face the challenges of college life.
As a boarding student, I ate, socialized, and
lived with students from different countries.
Living 45 minutes away from home led me to
be more independent and learn how to live
with a group of individuals every day. I was

afraid about keeping up academically with a
full schedule, but The Mountain Center helped
me learn to prioritize and budget my time. It’s
important to not stress the small stuff because
in the end those things are not important. One
of the toughest things for me about leaving
SKS was not being able to see my friends
everyday like I was used to. With all of today’s
technology, I have been able to keep in touch
with most of them. To the Class of 2012 , I wish
you all good luck on your future endeavors
and follow your dreams. I miss you.
