adventure. We tore down, re-built and repaired three classrooms; we built a new set of stairs
from the river up to the village; we each planted five native trees to offset the carbon
expended travelling to Costa Rica; we learned about native medicinal plants; we learned to
shoot a bow and arrow and we even learned a little bit of the indigenous language. Leaving
Yorkin was bittersweet, we’d have hot showers — but our adventure was coming to an end.
The next two days we weathered a big storm and zipped through the rain forest on steel
cables. A 4 a.m. wake-up call got us to the airport in time to make our 7 a.m. flight back to JFK.
