or weeks, the prom committee
heavily promoted the enchanted
forest-themed event. They deco-
rated the lobby of Orr Commons, made
announcements at morning meetings
encouraging their classmates to purchase
tickets, compiled a “Go to Prom” video,
and even posted (somewhat ancient)
prom photos of faculty members.
Students who could identify their teach-
ers in the photos had the opportunity

Mountainville Manor in nearby
Mountainville, New York, provided a
beautiful setting for the festive event.
Guests arrived in tuxedos and gowns,
with hair done up and nails polished,
looking and feeling fabulous. They
mingled, took pictures, enjoyed a beauti-
ful buffet dinner, and danced the night
away to the sounds of PJ the DJ, who
entertained the crowd with special effects
and lighting. Special guests former Head
of School Helen “Steevie” Chinitz and
her husband, Richard, had the honor
of crowning this year’s Prom king and
queen, Frank C. and Allie Joy Z., voted
on by the senior class. In addition
to chaperones Kaitlin Nolan, Kathy
Syvertsen, and Jamie and Rose Smith,
several faculty members, including “Mr.
Cool” (a.k.a. Mr. Hunt), stopped by to
see everyone dressed up and to show off
some moves on the dance floor. It was a
memorable evening all around!
