DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS
SHOWS DRAMATIC GROWTH
The STorM KinG School
Department of Athletics
has shown dramatic growth during the first two seasons of
this year. Under the direction of Director of Athletics Joseph
Graziosi, the department has added seven new athletic teams
this year expanding the options for our student athletes. In the
fall, girls soccer, boys JV soccer, and JV volleyball were added
to supplement our existing offerings. This allowed 118 students
to participate on athletic teams in the fall accounting for an
unprecedented 91 percent of our students participating on
interscholastic athletic teams.
The winter season has seen the addition of girls JV basket-
ball and fencing. Our girls JV team has played a full slate of
games and has acted as a developmental team for future varsity
teams. The fencing program which is training on a club level
this season will become a full varsity sport next winter. The
gym, itself, has gone through a make-over as the entire lighting
system on the basketball floor has been replaced by energy effi-
cient lighting and a new wireless scoreboard has been installed.
Downstairs, the wrestling room has been painted and the new
cardio room has begun to be equipped.
The spring season will see the addition of two new sports

to the Storm King
School athletic
program with the
addition of girls
lacrosse and the
re-birth of the base-
ball program. The
girls lacrosse team
will play a competi-
tive schedule
including Wooster
School and Harvey
School and the
baseball team will
compete in the
Hudson Valley Athletic League.
Overall, The Storm King School athletic department has
become a leader in the Hudson Valley Athletic League as the
only school in the league to participate in all 14 sports under
the leagues administration. We are consistently improving our
performance in the league including our soccer team and our
lacrosse teams’ appearances in the past two championship finals
and our wrestling program winning last year’s league champion-
ship as well as its growing acknowledgement on the national
level with competitions at national powers Wyoming Seminary
Prep, Kiski Prep, and Malvern Prep.
Foremost, the athletes at The Storm King School are taught
the importance of integrity, winning with grace and losing with
honor, by the staff of faculty coaches. Our teams are respected
for their sportsmanship and sense of fair play. This has been
acknowledged over and over by opposing coaches and players
and demonstrates the finest feature of our athletic department.
Our new fencing program is training at a club
level and will soon become a full varsity sport.

The Admissions team is looking for alumni, parents,
and others who are interested in hosting an
Admissions Reception. Primarily, we need people who
can create an invite list of families that have children
of the right age. If you are interested in helping the
School find good prospective students in this way,
please contact Director of Admissions Joanna Evans at
or 845.534.9860.
