i am SKS
Bobby Cao ’14
Where I’m from
I am from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Why I came to SKS
My parents gave me permission to study abroad so I looked for a
school in New York since I thought that would be the place full
of opportunities and dreams. They worry that New York City is a
dangerous place so I found SKS because it is close to the city but
still a safe place to prepare for my future life in New York City.
The best thing about SKS
Being at SKS is like being in one big family. Everyone knows each
other and I don’t have to be afraid of anything. I feel like I can be
myself and open to everyone.
My best moment at SKS
It’s so hard to pick but I will tell you about one. When I was in
wrestling last year, I only won once during the whole season.
My team always supported me and at the end of the season they
surprised me with a special award: Most Courageous Player!
My first impression of SKS
When I first arrived, I was directed to the dining hall. I remember
thinking that the view of the Hudson River from the dining hall
was amazing.
What SKS gives me
SKS gives me the opportunity to be who I really am so I can
develop into who I really want to be. The friendliness of the
community gives me the will to try new things without any
judgment. People are always there when I fail so I am never afraid
of failing. They are also there to cheer when I succeed.
Future plans
I am aiming to get into the School of Visual Arts in NYC to
study graphic design. I hope also to get a chance to sing in the
music industry.
Best lesson ever learned
The best way to find you is to lose yourself in service of others.
