An Intro to the Arts
The renowned arts program at The Storm King School boasts an
accomplished faculty, state-of-the-art technology, and a variety of
exciting courses to inspire interest and stimulate creativity. From
stagecraft to music production, graphic arts to modern dance, with
everything from choral singing to playwriting in between, we offer
dynamic instruction in theatre arts, visual arts, music arts, and music
technology.

The Storm King School has been
well known for our
traditional
art
program for quite some
time. We offer an exciting art
program starting with an
introductory course, and moving
up to advanced drawing and
painting, and advanced
placement, college credit
courses in both Studio Art and
Art History.
The digital nature of the
world around us has led SKS to
broaden our arts offerings. This
is our second year offering both
digital photography
and
digital art
,
a graphic design
class. As students gravitate to
the excitement of the digital
world, we have expanded our
art department computer lab.
This year, we have a total of 11
Macintosh computers, six of
which are the new 2013 iMacs. It
is a beautiful space! The students
love the working environment,
and we use Adobe Photoshop to
not only edit photographs, but
to also create projects that
reflect our modern society.
In the Digital Photography
course, students learn the
intricacies of their cameras and
how to alter their images in
Photoshop. We have assign-
ments such as: landscape
photography, portraits, photo
collages, and motion photogra-
phy. I have a love of the
darkroom and traditional black
and white photography, and I
translate that knowledge into
