FAREWELL PARTY FOR STEEVIE
ON APRIL 28, the Board of Trustees honored Helen “Steevie”Chinitz’s
SKS tenure at a cocktail gathering in Newburgh. The historic Ritz
Theater lobby was filled with family and friends, alumni, faculty, and
staff. Highlights of the evening included entertainment provided by
The Perfect Fifths, a jazz combo from Monroe Woodbury High School.
The brother of band member, Joe Feeney, is an SKS alumnus, Rulon
Feeney ’08. The group is a favorite of New York City Cardinal Dolan who
employs them for special events. A surprise performance was given by
SKS students Biying H. ‘13, Eunice H. ‘13, Hua L. ‘16, Lorenzo L. ‘13,
Dwight R. ‘12, Andrew T. ‘12, and Chandler Z. ‘14, under the direction
of piano instructor, Martin Smith. The delicious food was prepared by
SKS’very own Master Chef, Moises Ortega, and friend of the School
Donna Hammond of the Hudson Street Café. Trustees Mike Brower ’63,
Rich Roberts ’60, and Jim Settel ‘50 all said a few words thanking
Steevie for her dedication to the School over the last 10 years.
We all wish Steevie and Richard well as they begin their new lives in
the Rhinebeck, New York area.
Steevie would like to stay in touch. Her email is steevie@me.com.
